Our Verdict

The EcoFlow 110 is the best solar panel for foul weather. This model is fully waterproof, so no matter what's happening outside your tent, you don't have to worry about your solar panel. This way, you can sleep soundly during that afternoon nap without worrying about the weather outside. You may not pull the most energy during the rain, but rest easy knowing you won't be left with a broken panel from that storm rolling through. It uses the universal standard MC4 solar cable connectors, which are waterproof and allow for easy chaining of solar panels. This will enable you to multiply the amount of solar charging possible endlessly. All you need to do is connect the cables and hook them to your power station. This panel is very efficient on both sunny and cloudy days. It's an excellent option for anyone looking for the right solar panel to charge a lot of tech who wants a reliable charge far from the nearest power outlet.

Our Analysis and Test Results

The EcoFlow 110 is one of the best overall solar panels for your camping setup and one of the only fully waterproof models we tested. This 110-watt portable panel is one of the highest-performing panels across a battery of energy tests and is a great addition to a solar camping setup.

Direct Solar Charging Speed

If a solar panel doesn't work well in direct sunlight, it's not worth buying. The EcoFlow 110 consistently put out some of the most power in our direct solar charging tests. It quickly charged its test battery, so you'll never be left without power.

The EcoFlow 110 uses monocrystalline solar cells with a 23% conversion rate. It's quite efficient; in our direct solar charging test, it put out more charge than any other model. The EcoFlow 110 consistently charged its 240-watt-hour battery the most in our one-hour charging test.

To test direct solar charging, we hooked up every panel to an identical portable power station at the same time and in the same place to ensure every panel was operating in the exact same conditions. During our tests, the EcoFlow 110 generated 53.6 watt-hours of charge in one hour. This is the most power generated by any solar panel and is over 20% of the total capacity of our 240-watt-hour battery.

Each panel's watt output was also monitored. The EcoFlow 110 consistently put out 65-70 watts during peak sun. This is some of the best power output of any model we tested. However, we found the output varied consistently as atmospheric conditions shifted. The watt output would change when we changed the panel's angle, but even when we didn't move the panel, it would fluctuate on every panel. Either way, this is still a super-efficient solar panel in direct sunlight.

Indirect Solar Charging Speed

Even if a solar panel performs well in sunny conditions, that doesn't mean it will continue to churn out power on cloudy days. The best solar panels create energy when the sun isn't shining as bright, and these are the panels we think you should consider. The EcoFlow 110 also performed well in our indirect solar charging test.

We simulated a cloudy day in a repeatable test by using white sheets suspended over every panel and tested them all at the same time, side by side. We measured the amount of power every panel generated in one hour when hooked up to identical 240-watt-hour batteries.

Many panels in our indirect solar charging test saw a significant drop in power output under the white sheet. But, the EcoFlow 110 once again performed better than most other models. Under the white sheet test, it generated 20 watt-hours of charge in an hour. This is some of the best charging in indirect sunlight of any panel.

The EcoFlow 110 saw less of a decrease in charge output than almost every other model during this test. A couple of models performed slightly better in this test, but this model was nearly the top performer.

The EcoFlow performed the best on average across both direct and indirect solar charging speed tests. It saw a more significant drop in efficiency between direct and indirect solar charging than some panels, but that's only because it was so efficient in direct solar charging.

Portability

The EcoFlow 110 is very portable and one of the lightest in this large-panel lineup, weighing a mere 8.8 pounds.

Impressively, it folds to just 1.5 inches thick. Its included carrying case makes storing cables and other accessories easier than most because the carrying case is larger than the average zippered pocket found on the many other panels we tested.

The EcoFlow 110 folds down from four panels into a think stack that easily fits inside the carrying case. Its carrying case zips closed and has a comfortable webbing handle that feels more comfortable and sturdy than the many thin, sharp plastic handles on other panels.

Functionality

The EcoFlow 110 is pretty functional overall. It has MC4 universal solar cable connectors with a single charging output. This means it can only charge one device at once, but you can chain this kind of panel together to send more power to your power station.

The carrying case of the EcoFlow 110 also functions as a handy way to angle the panel. This allows you to point the panel at the sun to increase solar output. While the case works to do this, it doesn't work as well as some other models with dedicated kickstand legs for this purpose. We appreciate the design because it saves weight, but it isn't perfect.

Also, since it uses MC4 connectors, you'll likely need to buy an extra cable or adaptor to hook the EcoFlow 110 to your portable power station. It would be nice if everything you need to start using your panel were included with the panel, but the connector cable you need for your power station can vary. So, we get it, but we'd still like it if the EcoFlow 110 came with everything to use it.

Should You Buy the EcoFlow 110?

The EcoFlow 110 is an all-around great performing solar panel. It's one of the most powerful models we tested and is also waterproof. Furthermore, this 110-watt panel is often on sale, and it's an excellent price if you do get it at a discount. When discounted, it costs about the same amount as most of the best solar panels we tested. Overall, the EcoFlow 110 is an excellent choice for a solar setup for your next camping trip.
